Hi Charley, Thank you, so much, for your generous comments. I think it is useful for those who have been fortunate enough to make advances with their speech to share their experiences with other PWS (and persons associated with stuttering). I recognise that every PWS is unique – so there is unlikely to be an approach that suits all. :-) However, there may well be certain aspects, or general principles, that can be applied to other cases. When I speak (or write) about the paths that I have trodden during recent years, I describe (in general terms) what has been successful for me. I stress that I did what I considered appropriate for my own personal circumstances. I would never be so arrogant as to suggest that others should attempt to imitate my example (although I have encountered such evangelism). :-) We commence from different starting lines; possess different life histories; carry different amounts of emotional baggage; and are influenced by different expectations/aspirations. Each individual is responsible for the decisions that he/she takes in life. I would be delighted to accept your kind invitation to interact with your class (via Skype) in 2011. When you arrive at your office today, you will discover that I have already taken the liberty of leaving a message on your voicemail confirming my availability. :-) Picking up the telephone, and calling total strangers, is a wonderful means of expanding one’s comfort zone. :-) I will correspond with you further (by private email) within the next few days. Thank you, once again, for taking the time to read my paper and provide feedback. Kindest regards Alan
