Hi Art, Thank you for responding to my paper. It’s always a pleasure to hear from you. I think it’s important for me to speak about the ‘hidden’ aspects in order to provide the student SLPs with an insight into what it is like to live with stuttering. They need to know that it involves so much more than the mechanics of speech. Incidentally, do members of your NSA Metro North Chapter take the opportunity of sharing their experiences with such classes? You wrote: “...one has to continually work on speaking behavior changes. Otherwise, the old speaking patterns return.” You may be interested to note that I touched upon this point in my 2009 ISAD online conference paper: ‘How Beliefs and Self-image Can Influence Stuttering’ http://www.mnsu.edu/comdis/isad12/papers/badmington12.html It would be great to catch up with you sometime. Maybe we can correspond privately with a view to arranging a mutually convenient date/time to chat via telephone or Skype? Kindest regards Alan
