My dear friend Russ. Yes, talking to young PWS is not just about stuttering. In fact, only a tiny bit is about stuttering. Most of our camps is about life. About being proud of who you are and what you do. To speak for yourself and not wait for life to do things for you. And yes, talking about being different AND making being different ok (!) is a great approach. Yes, I speak in a different way. But is that bad thing? Or does that make me special? Wasn't Superman different? My daughter has blue hair which is cool. :-) Yes, please send me that mail as I love the approach. I'm so happy you and others speak in schools, as both teachers and students need to learn to understand and respect us and other people who are different. But also kids who stutter need to meet adults who stutter to hear we do have a life, a job, a partner, kids etc. That stuttering sucks, but that life if worth living. So, to you Russ and all those others out there: Keep talking!!! Happy ISAD! Anita We need more people who stutter to take this message and broadcast it to the world! There is soooo much work to do! .... I sure hope you can make it to Ft. Worth next summer for the NSA conference. It's in my back yard! .... As you say - KEEP TALKING! .... Russ
