Dear Anita, Thank you so much for submitting this paper. I am a first year Graduate student, pursuing a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Before I began my undergraduate program, for my major, I had never heard anyone who stuttered, let alone even knew what stuttering all entailed. When I first heard someone stutter, in clinic, I couldn’t help but feel bad for him. As I learned more about this type of disorder I became more comfortable and wanted to meet more people who stutter. I am now in a Graduate level fluency class and still feel that there is so much more to learn about stuttering. As I read through your paper I realized that most of what I will be doing with people who stutter, in therapy, is having them embrace their speech. I can also try to have them meet other people who stutter and have them share their experiences. I think it is important to form social networks with others as it may facilitate independence and self-confidence.
