Hi Patti, Thank you for sharing the innovative methods that you use when working with your young clients. You wrote “Often children who stutter need to be taught basic social skills.” Having personally encountered several thousand PWS during the past 10 years, it has been my experience that many adults lack good communication skills. The art of conversation involves so much more than merely acquiring increased fluency. While others develop these attributes from a very early age, persons who stutter tend to remain on the fringes of such interaction. It is not surprising that many PWS find themselves deficient in these areas. I was, therefore, heartened to read of the steps that you are taking to improve your clients’ interpersonal skills at a young age. It should greatly assist their passage through life. Kindest regards Alan.
