Sorry, I missed your question earlier. The number of hours depends a lot on the client. I prefer doing more sessions in a short span of time. These are the stages of therapy: Stage 1 • Understanding how to change the processing of speech production • Doing basic activities until the processes becomes very clear • Beginning to change perspective related to speaking and yourself as a speaker • Beginning to develop new thoughts and feelings Stage 2 •Heightened awareness of basic process •Beginning use processes in normal connected speech •Repetitive experience in producing speech in the new way •Making new experiences, thoughts, imagining Stage 3 •Repetition with awareness until new process is etched in procedural memory •Gradually increasing use of new process at will in real life •Stabilizing new neurological connections along with new thoughts, experiences, behavior Stage 4 •Using the new process automatically in real life as part of subconscious self •Communicating without thinking about it •Using instinctive self correction when necessary Stage 1 usually takes 3-6 sessions; stage 2 may take another 2-6 sessions depending on the individual; stage 3 will take from six months to a year of self-practice and gradually doing what you need to do at will in real-life situations. Sessions with clinician guidance in stage 3 are optional and depend on how much support the client needs and wants.
