Hi Gabby, thanks for your comments. I haven't had a heart-to-heart with my mother yet....but the pathway is being laid. Only yesterday, I was having a simple but unusual-for-us conversation with her about my little daughter. I can feel the time is near when we will sit together and I can express the emotions which I so want to. As it happens, my very writing of this article has been a way for me to push myself to acheive just that goal. I've often found it difficult to speak about emotional issues in the past (is that just me or is that a male thing?!), and by disclosing personal details on ISAD, I've wanted to see what it feels like to be a little 'emotionally naked' in public. And to be honest, it feels just fine! Thanks for your post, and take care. Harry
