Great article Carla & Lisa! Figured I'd offer my 2 cents on things that might be beneficial in future. My first thought is that a paid coordinator position would really help. I'm amazed that the CSA has been able to do so much on an all volunteer basis...but, there are limits to volunteer time. I know that one of the considerations here is $ for a paid position....but I really believe that core funding may be found for one position for the only national stuttering support organization in Canada. My other thought is a small suggestion that might result in more membership interest/activity. I think (perhaps niavely?) that a program of recognizing youth volunteer efforts (eg certificates, letters to the Principal/school, dedicated "Wall of Fame" web page) might really spur volunteer work, particularly in schools. The CSA is a relatively small organization where an individual can really feel like their efforts are making a difference/are appreciated. Students, for example, can be great fundraisers and I think many would be thrilled to have their fundraising efforts posted on the CSA website and acknowledged with a certificate, letter to the Principal, etc. I know things like this are easier said than done, but nowadays, with things like social media, a "call to action" trial campaign in a limited number of schools might not be too hard to organize. Just a thought:)
