I definitely see the value in a slight "tough love" approach. I have always been taught that "it could be worse." I'm lucky to have been able to go to a great school and be presented with fabulous opportunities--everyone has something to be thankful for. I would stress to them to always focus on the positive and no matter how hard it is, not to blame anything on stuttering. It is such a dismal trap to fall into (blame) and a hard hole to crawl out of, once a child starts attributing failures to stuttering, that if you can help them to see that they have much more control over their attitudes than they think, you could save them a lot of heartache in the long run. Hope that helps! Thanks for your interest :) Sam
