Hi Rachel, I know very little about the treatment of children, so I thoroughly enjoyed reading your enlightening paper. I was fortunate to experience an idyllic childhood (albeit many years ago) in which my parents were so supportive. I never recall them saying (or doing) anything that would have adversely affected my confidence. They also encouraged me to live a full and active life and did not undertake speaking roles/tasks on my behalf. Despite stuttering quite severely in certain situations, I was never teased or bullied at school. Maybe this was due to the fact that, as a result of my positive upbringing, I enjoyed a high degree of self-esteem as well as being a prominent sportsman. I'm sure that your paper will be of value to many people. Kindest regards Alan
