I really enjoyed reading this article. I am currently a first year graduate student at WVU taking an advanced stuttering course with Dr. Kenneth St. Louis. We have just briefly talked about recovery rates and corrective measures taken by parents of children who stutter. I feel that parent involvement can be extremely beneficial to helping children with stuttering if the right techniques are used. After reading your article, I have a few questions. First, is the Lidcombe Program the method that you would recommend to parents of stutters and how would you go about obtaining a more suitable home environment for this program? Also, do you feel that a parent can sometimes do harm by trying to assess and help their child to much?
