Hello, Thank you for replying to my paper. I’m sorry your son stutters and that you feel unsure about how to help him at home. I appreciate how distressing it can be to see your child struggling and not know what to do with the best. I would always recommend seeing a speech and language therapist or logopedist, as I think they are called in France, as working out what is best for an individual parent and child is always best done by face-to-face meeting. However, if there is no one for you to go and see there is some general advice for helping young children on the American Stuttering Foundation website. You don’t say how old is your son is and the Lidcombe Program was designed for children up to about seven years of age. I know of one French therapist who works in Paris who has just started to use the LP but I am afraid I don’t know much about the system in France. You ask if there is a book about the LP and there is one for therapists but it is not designed so that parents can do the treatment on their own. Although the ideas behind the treatment are relatively straightforward working out how to best help an individual child requires support and training from a qualified therapist. I’m sorry not to be able to be more helpful. My very best wishes to you and your son.
