Hi Jen, When using the LP the therapist’s role is to teach the parent how to do the program and we do this by demonstration, explanation and joint problem solving. So the child has therapy with the therapist and with his /her parent within each clinic session. We would never ask a parent to do something with a child that we haven’t done ourselves and also seen the parent do in the clinic. It sounds a bit stressful but once parents have got to know us it becomes a very supportive learning / therapy environment. We also learn form the parents as they successfully implement the treatment at home in their own individual style - they teach us things. Over the years of using the LP I have learnt a lot from parents and colleagues which I am now able to pass on to my new cases –if and when it seems appropriate. So the therapy sessions are quite a complex learning environment. Best wishes
