Hi Rachel, I’m glad you enjoyed the article. Your question is difficult to answer in this format- we could have a good discussion about it. The LP is based on some relatively simple concepts but they can be hard to implement with some children. If a child is stuttering quite severely and has been for some time then I wouldn’t want to change approach just because we have hit some problems. I would try and understand what is going wrong for the child, and then, with the parent work out some alternative ways of applying the concepts. If the child is older, 5+years, then they may have some good ideas as well that we can work with. I have training in different treatments and very different theoretical models that I use with older children and adults and sometimes these will fit a particular child better than the LP. I try to be hypothesis driven rather than picking out something else from my therapy toolkit. I hope this answers your question. Best wishes
