Dr. Hayhow, I really enjoyed your insightful article. As a graduate student, I am unfamiliar with the Lidcombe Program, and therefore have a couple questions. In the article you said the program wants the parents to encourage self-correction, and eventually the children learn to self-correct independently and often take great pleasure in this. What is the research behind the benefit of self-correction versus being corrected by someone else? Also, how do you become trained in the Lidcombe Program? If you are inexperienced in the program, is there another direct therapy approach you find successful?
