Hello, if you look at my response to Lindsay’s questions above and you will see an outline of the LP also I wrote about the therapist’s role earlier but will write a bit here. The therapist role is to train the parents and to make sure that they feel confident in doing the therapy at home. We would not make unexpected visits to the child’s home this is not necessary. We always aim to work co-operatively with parents and trust that what they do in the clinic more or less represents what they do at home. We recommend daily treatment as this facilitates the child’s learning but would never ask parents to comment on every stuttered utterance. Can you imagine if the child stuttered severely how distressing this would be. Your final question is a difficult one to answer because ways of finding therapists are different in different countries. In the UK the British Stammering Association keeps a record of therapists working with children and adults who stammer and so they are able to put therapists and potential clients in touch with each other. However, not all areas have specialist therapists and not all therapists can offer a full range of treatment options. With best wishes
