Interesting paper! I love the parent involvement strategies. Therapy is all about the carry over and I think the more involved parents can be the better, family relationships can definitely improve. The word that I found interesting was “expectations.” I do not have any clinical experience with stuttering but it seems as though expectations can have a great impact on therapy. I think it is important for clients and parents to have realistic expectations. Interesting comment about the natural recovery decreasing with age! The stuttering pattern makes sense because the client repeats this pattern over and over and eventually it becomes part of their speech. I can’t help but think about the children who spend more time at daycare than at home with the parents. How do you address this scenario? If the parents are not available or on board how does this alter the take-home therapy approach?
