Hi Christine, extended families can be so enriching, all those people to talk to and care for them. As far as the LP goes we only want people commenting on a child’s talking who we have seen doing this in the clinic, so that we can check it’s done safely etc. Also in the early days of treatment it can be easier for the child if just one or maybe two people are helping them. The child needs consistency in order to learn from the feedback also they don’t want too many comments on their speaking. Later in treatment it can be very motivating for one or two other close and caring people to help with the treatment but this is always done with care so that the child doesn’t feel pressurized. They must never feel that everybody is more interested in how they speak them in what they say. Best wishes
