Hi Aimee, There is nothing like having a child of one’s own to realize how overwhelming parenthood can be! As you say how much more overwhelming it must be when the child stutters. It is clearly more difficult for parents with several children to help one particular child and of course it is particularly difficult when it’s a single parent with several children. In my experience we must never prejudge how well the parent may manage to work with their child. Sometimes parents with one child find it much harder to organize themselves and their child for home therapy than an organized parent with several children. In the latter case necessity has sometimes led to very creative solutions to the everyday problems of parenting. We really have to tackle such problems case-by-case and work with the parent and child strengths as much as we can. Sometimes relatives or friends can help so that for a short period of time the mother can give their stuttering child that bit of extra help they need. Best wishes
