Rosemarie, I just wanted to thank you for this informative article. Before reading your article I was unfamiliar with the Lidcombe Program. As I read your article I was slightly shocked with the fact that parent was becoming the therapist. To me this seemed like a bad idea. It seems as though this would put additional stress on the parents, who may already feel bad enough. Due to me being unfamiliar with the Lidcombe Program I did a little research and came across a study that you actually sited in your article. The study I found was "Randomised controlled trial of the Lidcombe programme of early stuttering intervention" by Jones et al (2005). This study stated that this program produced excellent results among younger children. After reading your article as well as this study, it seems as though the Lidcombe Program can be a very effective early intervention. Thank you so much for introducing me to this concept.
