Hey Anita, Great to hear from you on this conference. I just read your wonderful paper about teens, but you beat me to the punch. Watch the comments on your paper in a few minutes. .... There are several Toastmaster clubs in Sweden, three I can see in Stockholm and several other cities that I can't even pronounce! Actually once you get the hang of it, preparing a speech really isn't that hard. Most speeches fit into a pattern of introduction, body (including several points), and a conclusion. 90% of most speeches follow that pattern. Yeah, it starts out more difficult until you get the hang of it, then it gets pretty easy. The trick is to speak in some form EVERY SINGLE WEEK. Maybe not a formal prepared speech but just something to get you up in front of an audience for a few minutes. But I KNOW you don't have any problem with that! You'd be a good role model for other new speakers though. .... You're absolutely right in that communication is sooooo much more important than stuttering! I stutter every single week in both of my clubs, but people barely notice it. It's the communication that counts. .... Sure hope you can find a way to get to Ft. Worth next summer. That's right in my back yard!... Keep talking! (who says that?) Russ
