Mary had a tiny lamb, Tiny lamb, tiny lamb, Mary had a tiny lamb Its soft coat was bright as snow Any location that Mary had to go, Mary had to go, Mary had to go, Any location that Mary had to go, That lamb was also going to go It would walk with Mary to school for a day, School for a day, school for a day, It would walk with Mary to school for a day, Which was against all laws …. I was unable to continue after this point. After a lot of thought, I got stuck on the word "made" and could no longer avoid words containing an "e". I really appreciated your article. As a future SLP, and an individual who does not stutter, your insight has proven to be very beneficial. I never recognized the impact of avoiding behaviors. Even this short exercise gave me a slight insight into the problems these behaviors could cause. I will continue to explore avoidance behaviors, and take your advice in attempting to avoid specific words as a way to better empathize the clients that I will be working with.
