This is incredibly interesting. I have never thought of a case like this relating to stuttering and could never imagine being in this individuals position. Not only having to change everything I say, but rearranging my life (where I go to college) so I would never have to utter an “R” word. Is there a specific category or name of this type of stuttering? I would like to look more into it. I would also like to comment on the way you tried to relate yourself to that individual in order to get a sense at where they are coming from. This is something that I am still struggling with as a future speech language pathologist and really appreciated your strategies. Are these the same type of strategies that you would use with your other fluency clients?
