Well, at the risk of making too many generalizations...I'll see if I can answer! Younger children, generally, have less social awareness and less sophisticated self-monitoring and self-evaluation skills and thus, generally are not as embarrassed/frustrated/ashamed, etc., by stuttering as older children. (There are exceptions, of course!). The books for young children tend to be much simpler than those for older children with regard to the breadth and depth of the plot, discussion of stuttering issues, etc. -- so the kinds of activities that one would create, based on these books, would, generally, be much less detailed than those for older kids. So, as we say in the article, you wouldn't be using the books (for any age) as the main cornerstone of a treatment program...
