Thanks for your comments, Camille. In answer to your question, yes, I do think some of these books would be helpful in giving young children a basic understanding of stuttering. Several books for younger children are listed in some previous posts on this page. Generally the books for younger children deal with stuttering in a less in-depth way, so further discussion aside from the reading might be required, particularly if a child who stutters is having difficulty understanding what’s happening with his/her speech.
