This paper was really informative and descriptive of how PWS hide and avoid stuttering in fear of shame and embarrassment. I am a first year graduate student at WVU and have attended a few stuttering group meetings held by the speech pathology department at WVU. During these meetings, students were asked to think of times when they would avoid certain situations that made them feel uncomfortable. My situation would be talking on the telephone or any type of public speaking. I really like your description that it is like a “zipper that won’t budge.” During the group meeting that I attended, a participant said “If you fight it “stuttering” it will always win.” Thank you for sharing your experiences with stuttering. I enjoyed reading this paper!
