I met a 55 yo female who began to stutter after a TBI caused in a car accident. This is called neurogenic stuttering. She repeated each syllable of every word approx 3 times (very unique). When she started to personalize reactions from listeners, develop cognitions such as shame, and ask her husband to talk for her she gradually became a "stutterer." She had no speech impediment until the TBI. I met her 18 mos post TBI so therapy success was limited.
