Ari, good questions. I want you to close your eyes and fully associate into a future event where stuttering is likely. Your soma/body will feel anxiety as you imagine stuttering. It is very hard to use behavior techniques in moments of high anxiety. What if that anxiety was gone? How would the words come out? That is the goal of a skilled CBT practitioner. My last name is a great example. I stuttered 100% (severe blocks) on my last name on the phone for > 10 years {every time}. Trying to stretch the /m/ did not work. I had to get into my beliefs and meanings about stuttering on my name that provoked the panic that in turn manfiested to tremendous blocks. yours,
