Mr. McClure- Thanks for posting your article. I found myself agreeing with much of what you discussed. I really found you comment, "Sometimes it seems that stuttering is the only disability it's still okay to ridicule," to be enlightening. It made me stop and think for a minute that this is so true. I guess I never thought about stuttering in that manner before your piece. Why is it that it is still alright to bully CWS and portrey PWS in film/t.v. inaccurately in society? Stuttering is still taboo in our society. I completely agree with you when you link this partly to the lack of advocacy of PWS and SLPs. I guess this plays into the idea that PWS need to change their thoughts/attitudes about their stuttering first in order to successfully change the ideas/attitudes that society has about stuttering.
