Hi Lori, Thank you for this paper. It seems like my students and their families want to carryover fluency gains immediately and are baffled by how difficult this is. Well, actually, so am I. The professional literature says that stuttering is a complex, multi-dimensional disorder and improved fluency is disrupted by any number of internal and external influences. But carryover is the BIG question. Fluency groups sound like such a client-friendly, effective way to talk about the baffling process of carryover. My questions are about scheduling and goals. 1. I struggle to get even 2 clients in the same place at the same time! Do you offer any kind of incentives for making fluency groups a priority on your clients' calendars? 2. My clients come to me for more fluency and I believe in helping them get it. What are some ways you talk about the gradual process of increased fluency and how do you address those discouraging periods that I still refer to as 'relapse'. Thank you, Judy :)
