Great question. I think the NSA is wonderful for people who feel like they are the only one. The National Stuttering Association's website is www.westutter.org. They have support groups all over the country. They really encourage support, acceptance and friendship. Practice groups utilize more fluency strategies as well as support on some level. Sometimes pws give up too quickly and don't understand how long change takes. It took me on a lifelong journey and I am 47. Having pws on my life has greatly improved not only my fluency but confidence level. It takes a long time for tools to work in the real world. If someone is very anxious about talking, they won't be able to breath in the correct manner. Then you have to take a step back and work on desensitization. Hope this helps
