Thanks for your comments. Counseling is important but don't assume that every pws needs it to the same degree. I like to administer the OASES-Teen to assess the impact stuttering has in various situations. It is an excellent tool and provides important information. Some parents are looking for the magic "cure" and others are more realistic in their expectations. Practice groups are more tools oriented. Support groups fill more of an emotional void and allow them to connect on a social level. They also help them realize they are not alone.
