In my opinion, improving fluency is important. I try not get into caught up with the semantics. Most of my clients come for increased fluency. I achieved it and so did my dad. Acceptance is important but not to the exclusion of decreasing stuttering. Of course our goals have to be realistic. No one is perfectly fluent and that is not what we are seeking. It is about improving communication, confidence and decreasing stuttering. Personally, I accept that I stutter but don't like it. We have to work on changing attitudes. Counseling is a part of what we do as we work on improving fluency. Hope this helps. Thanks for your question and interest in stuttering.
