Hello again Kristin, As mentioned I think it is the impact of the stuttering on the individual that can lend it to being termed as a disability. I do not think severity has any part to play. I find your notion that "Most preschoolers are typically not even aware of their disfluencies" to be very interesting. I am not very fluent in that area of the literature sorry :) I do believe though that research is indicating that children may be noticing and focusing on in a negative fashion some other children’s disfluencies at a very young age.
