Am I the only one who thinks this whole thread is just weird? If "everyone is disabled", as you and others have said, the term is meaningless. If being disabled is something to be proud of, then we have turned the world upside down. And being deaf is a serious, serious disability, no matter how people choose to label or not label themselves. I think people are mixing up "don't let it stop you from trying, from finding things to achieve... don't be ashamed of "it" (whatever "it" is). That is a very helpful attitude. But saying that being deaf /mute is NOT a disability is just crazy. And WANTING PWS to see themselves as "disabled" seems to me like a harmful, negative thing (unless you are redefining "disabled" to some new "I am special and wonderful" definition that is not at all what the word really means. I applaud all PWS who reject the label, while seeking to make the most of their lives and their abilities
