Abby, First I wanted to say thank you for choosing the field of speech pathology! How far a long are you in your program? Very exciting!!! Second, you touch a truly great point of listening... Listening, for me and with a lot of the counseling and psychology courses and literature I've been fortunate enough (truly lucky to have experienced) to have come in contact with ALL involve being able to listen to people, openly and with compassion. We all can listen to the words of people, their actions, what they are NOT saying is important too! Lastly, we CAN listen without judging them...Very important point. So many times it is easier to jump to conclusions about people we don't know, that is really just our egos trying to make sense of the world without really taking the time to know the situation, know the person, listen to their thoughts, and allowing them to speak and say whatever they want!....Before I ramble to much, thank you again for your magnificent point of "listening" and I wish you all the success in your future career! with kindness and compassion, Scott
