Pam, My sense is maybe you shouldn't do anything differently next time. We all react in certain ways and often it is just best to move on and not overanalyze things. I think it seems reasonable not to go into detail with someone if you have determined the interest is not sufficent to make it successful. My sense is if you had more openness from the individual (doctor or whomever), you would likely have expanded on your reply.
