Hi Erin, Thank you for your comments and story about your student. She is lucky to have you as a therapist ... someone "who gets it". Although all our clients are individuals with different histories and journeys...no matter what "speech modificaton" or "speech fluency" approach I use with my clients, I also know that as long as they "fear stuttering" , they will have a very diffcult time using that new motor behavior in the "moment of their fear". I also speak from my own experience and heart... my road to fluency only began (after years of therapy) , at the age of about 37 when I broke through that wall and finally understood that I didn't care what people thought of my stuttering and that my stuttering didn't define who I was. So, like you said...it's all about "the fear factor". Thank for your story. Marybeth
