Hi Peter...I enjoyed your article and sat here for several minutes thinking about my "style" or approach with adults...which for a better word is "eclectic"! Since no one is totally fluent, I rarely set "fluency" as a goal..do I talk about it?? yes, as most adults initially come to my office to become more fluent or to deal with stuttering. I approach tx with teens and adults in a framework of "communication"...i.e what types of communication are problematic..(or something along that line)! We talk about (and work on) the issues that are highest on the priority list of my clients (not on my list). I guess that the one thing that I have learned over the years is that every therapist needs to listen and to adjust to the client..there is more than one way to do things!!...a very nice read! DG
