Dear author, I thought it was very interesting when you explained that, “Using specific, descriptive language instead of labels or vague terms such as fluency can be a productive way to help people who stutter explore their speech and explore the progress of change." As a new clincian, I found this article of particular interest. I have not yet had the experience of having a client who stutters in clinic, however after reading this article I am now aware that informing individuals about stuttering using the word fluency may not be beneficial to them. It is important to discuss with the client their personal goals and have them use discriptive terms to explain their own idea of what it means to be fluent. Thank you for sharing your professional knowledge and experience with the world.
