Evan, thanks for writing and for your kind words. You wrote, “when we use the term ‘fluency’ it seems to me that we ourselves are avoiding.” You said that nicely. I think your points about the term “disfluency” are very valid as well. I do think we should address the fact that terms such as “disfluency” and “disfluency” are often used as euphemisms by professionals, people who stutter, etc. As Joe Klein mentioned in a previous post here, “Walt Manning has said that the best way to change stuttering is to put it out on the table and get to work.”
