I found your piece interesting helpful. I have a stuttering client this semester in clinic and can relate to many of the topics discussed. I never really questioned why we use "fluency" instead of "stuttering" when stuttering is exactly what is occurring. When explaining the difference between "bumpy" and "smooth" speech to my young client, I aim to use specific, descriptive language because this is all new to him, therefore he is very impressionable. If we are not accurate in what we tell our clients, how can we expect change to occur? Great article.
