Good day Dr. Reitzes, My name is Clarisse Villapando and I am a graduate student from Nova Southeastern University. I am currently placed at a preschool for my clinical practicum. Working with preschoolers can really be tough yet fun. I love how I can address my students' fluency using fun & creative activities. In my sessions, I teach students "turtle talk" aka slow, easy speech. We use descriptive words such as "smooth" vs "bumpy" speech etc. I sometimes find myself telling parents and teachers to completely "erase" the term "stuttering" from their "dictionaries". Do you think I should continue to do this? I just felt that your article confirms what I have been trying to share with my parents and teachers i.e. fluency is our goal.
