I attempted the fluency challenge and was surprised at how difficult it was not to use stuttering as part of my definition. The term "fluency" is very easy to fall back on even though we do not really know what we mean by being fluent. Maybe we do not tell clients that we are working on "not stuttering" because it is so specific and may not be an obtainable goal for some individuals, so instead we sell the term "fluent" because it leaves room for interpretation. How would you discribe the goal of stuttering therapy to a client in a way that is specific yet obtainable?
