Wonderful paper Mr. Reitzes. A teacher once told me during my undergraduate career that when working with a person who stutters your goal should be to help them "stutter fluently". I had no idea what that meant. I thought it might mean trying to eliminate secondary behaviors. I love how you suggest that the client/clinician describe speech with words like bumpy or smooth instead of simply disfluent vs. fluent. It should be more about the feelings and attitudes of the individual and not this pressure to "become fluent or bust". I believe The Fluency Challenge will help facilitate optimal synergentic benefits between client and clinician.
