Thank you for these questions. I don't have a formal, evidence-based answer because there is so little research. So on a case-by-case basis, the clinician and client (or young child's parents) can work out what seems best, based on which language(s) are needed for daily life, and which language(s) the SLP speaks. We have no way to know if it would be better to pick one or the other, or to always work on both from the start. As the speech changes (which you will know, because you are doing regular mini-rechecks in each language and discussing this with the client/parents to see what is changing and what is not !), it is always possible to add/remove a language so I would not worry too much about making the perfect choice at the start of therapy.
