I am currently a graduate student clinician working with a young man who is bilingual in Mandarin and English. He only comes to our clinic for fluency therapy in English, he does not stutter in his native language. He came to America when he was only five years old, however, perhaps that has something to do with why he only stutters in English? Also, the rate of speech for English and Mandarin are very different (Mandarin is much faster). Could it be something to do with the pace of English that makes him stutter?
