Dr Sachin, I too believe that it takes a lot of courage for you to voice your concerns and opinions in such a way. When I read through your article the first time, it seemed to me that you were simply asking for money! Maybe other people would perceive it like that too, which is all the more reason I think you are courageous to spell this out like you did In my second reading, what came to mind is the old adage, "Don't just give hungry people fish. Instead, teach them to fish". That of course makes sense and dates back to very long ago. And further what comes to my mind is the many US Hollywood millionaires who are often seen touring disaster areas or visiting remote villages somewhere. It seems that in those instances, they are concerned with looking good than actually doing good. I am not sure what the answer is, as most non-profit stuttering organizations find them selves in need of fund-raising, and constantly having to do it. But in a country such as India, where there is so much poverty (I know, as my brother-in-law is from India and visits his family there often ), it is even more challenging to get funds needed to sustain good programs. I hope this thought-provoking article helps you to continue doing the very good work of TISA.
