Hi Jennifer, and thank you for your question. In the case of a child who is borderline, Yairi and Seery (2010)list criteria for a stuttering diagnosis. If the child has at least 3 of these features, a diagnosis of stuttering is appropriate: PW of 1.5, WW of 2.5, DP of .5, Total SLD of 3.0, Weighted SLD score of 4.0, Mean repetition units of 1.5, and PW and WW with 2 or more extra units of 2.0. And if the child displays more disfluency at home, be sure to ask the parents to bring in recording, or secure one in the home setting. Jean
