I appreciate your comments. I know of no brain imaging studies of children who stutter younger than the ones that you mention. I do know that the NIH is funding a longitudinal MRI study of infants at risk for autism. The children in this study are both infants at risk for autism and their siblings and they are seen as young as 12 months. The purpose of this research is to increase our understanding of timing and pattern of brain development in very young children with autism. There are 4 sites in the USA and the Montreal Neurological Institute is the data coordinating centre. I am sure that we will see this type of research on young children who stutter in the near future.
